Eco-Friendly Flowers :: Succulents

To create a more eco-friendly wedding, one idea is to use succulents. These hardy plants can be used on your cake, in your bouquet, or even in arrangements and still be planted afterwards and not be wasted. You can also use mini succulent gardens on your tables full of a variety of textures and colors.

Real Costa Rica Wedding by Katherine Stinnett

Carly and Joey decided on a location close to their hearts called Rancho Margot, a quaint little eco lodge in the rainforest owned by the groom's uncle. The ranch has stunning panoramic views of Arenal Volcano, and the property even backs up to the Monteverde Cloud Forest. To stick with the eco-friendly theme of the venue the couple used flowers, fruits, and greenery from the property for decor, and the food cooked for the reception was all sourced from the ranch as well.

From the photographer, Katherine Stinnett:

Carly and Joey knew what they wanted for their wedding, and it was to have their closest friends and family gather at the top of the property overlooking Arenal Volcano for their vows. The ceremony was sweet, simple, and intimate. Immediately following the ceremony, everyone enjoyed the views while snacking on Costa Rican drinks and fare, including ceviche and local beer. The festivities kicked off down at the ranch with a full farm-to-table menu followed by hours of dancing!

Having a destination wedding gives you the opportunity to make your wedding unique to the two of you. Don't feel pressured to do what is traditional if it doesn't feel right. Pick your favorite songs, find a location that speaks to you (even if it's on the top of a mountain), and don't be afraid to keep your guest list intimate. At the end of the day, what matters is that you were surrounded by those you hold dearest, you had an amazing time, and you said 'I do' the way you wanted!
